A Belated 10th Anniversary Celebration in Northern Minnesota

This summer marked our 10th anniversary milestone. On the actual date we were in the middle of a family visit out of state so we decided to wait to celebrate a little later in the summer. When a sweet friend of ours offered us time at a cabin we decided that a rare two days away without the children would be the perfect time to celebrate. The cabin overlooks Isaac Lake near the small town of Bovey in Norther Minnesota. It seems to be an older cabin that has been restored inside and is quite comfortable with a great view.

We decided to bring our own food rather than relying on restaurants due to the remote location. One thing about this that was fun is that we didn't have to go anywhere for the entire duration of our stay. Eating breakfast, sipping coffee, spending time in the morning sun overlooking the watch, discussing the future and reading our books were all among the delights of this relaxing time.

We took the kayaks out onto the water to go swimming past the lily pads. The water felt wonderful on these hot days in early August. We also enjoyed paddling around the lake and looking at the beautiful white lilies that opened in the mornings and closed up in the afternoons. The paddle boat also offered an enjoyable way to experience the lake at a slower pace.

It's been a beautiful 10 years of marriage with my love and I'm so happy that we get to spend decades more together sharing adventures like this, raising our children and making memories that will be in our hearts forever. This was a fun way to celebrate our 10th anniversary in a place that is so classic Minnesota, surrounded by lake water and the loon's call.
