I lived in Minnesota from 1999-2004 and Minnehaha Falls became one of my favorite places in the Twin Cities to get out into nature without having to go far from home. This picturesque waterfall is situated in South Minneapolis along the Minnehaha Creek, close to where it converges with the Mississippi River. When we moved back to the area in 2018, I was thrilled to be able to visit Minnehaha Falls again so close to home. Visiting Minnehaha Falls is a small way to enjoy an outdoor adventure in an urban setting. The watch photos represent my ongoing quest for the perfect adventure watch which I test while visiting the falls.
When I visited Minnehaha Falls in early December I could barely make my way down the ice-covered stairs to gain a nice view. Holding onto the railing for dear life, I managed to make it down and the sight of the falls in the early stage of freeze was totally worth it!
While stopping by in January of this year, we found the Falls more frozen over than I had ever seen them and it created a fascinating scene.
When I went back to the falls in March, the thaw had changed the entire scene. The waterfall once again flowed unencumbered by the ice while maintaining the last glimpses of winter in the remaining snow and ice around the falls.
